Michael has been involved with AFCC-MN for several years as a member of the Board of Directors and the Legislative Committee. He has testified before the legislature on proposed legislation affecting family law and has worked on behalf of the AFCC-MN, AAML-MN and MSBA Family Law Section to help make our laws work better for families and children. Michael has been a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Family Law Section since 1987, is a past Chair of the Family Law Section, and serves as a co-Chair of its Supreme Court Amicus Committee. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Michael is a regular lecturer and author of continuing legal education programs. He supervises and helps present the case law update at the annual Family Law Institute. For many years, Michael has been recognized in the Super Lawyers list and as a member of the top 5 percent of family law attorneys in Minnesota. In 2012, Michael received the designation of distinguished member of the Family Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association. Michael recently was asked to teach a family law course as an adjunct professor at the University of St. Thomas Law School, and expects to do so during Fall Semester.
