Gail Finley, GAL in southwestern Minnesota - Mankato area, is one of those AFCC MN members who is typically in the background, working hard and diligently with minimal recognition. She has actively participated in the 2014 annual conference committee program planning for the 1/2 day Greater MN Initiative. Gail effectively promotes the organization, events, and membership in her own modest, quiet way.
It was especially entertaining when she was informed of her selection as a Member in the Spotlight: She responded by saying "Gail who?" She's so accustomed to being in the background, that it never occurred to her that she would be nominated!
Congratulations, Gail. Well deserved. Thank you for your time, energy and hard work!!!
Kari Kanne, family law attorney with Honsa & Associates, is our member in the spotlight for March 2014.
Kari was nominated for taking initiative and spearheading the joint social hour with with AFCC-MN and the Family Law League held this past fall. Kari is an AFCC-MN member as well as Vice President of the Family Law League. Kari saw an opportunity to expand both organizations through a joint event. The event was truly a success, with a standing room only crowd of family law professionals including judicial officers, guardian ad litems, lawyers, mental health professionals and financial professionals. Thank you Kari for your hard work and dedication to bringing new networking opportunities for our members.
Kendra Hagen, family law attorney with Gray Plant Mooty in St. Cloud, is our first member in the spotlight.
Kendra was instrumental in orchestrating the first AFCC-MN Greater Minnesota Outreach initiative. A lunch and Learn was held in St. Cloud at the GPM Office on October 24, 2013. There were 23 participants from the family law community, including judges, attorneys and mental health professionals. The topic was Chemical Health Assessment, Treatment and Testing. CLE's were available.
Panel members: Steve Tschida of Recovery Plus in St. Cloud, John Hasper of Franklin Fmaily Services in Minneapolis, and Michelle Johnson of Minnesota Monitoring of Golden Valley.
Participants indicated they would like MORE involvement with AFCC-MN in their area. Future plans are in the works to hold more events outside of the metro area.
