Dr. Joseph Reid, LMFT, Ph.D.
Dr. Joseph Reid is a relatively new member to AFCC, and has jumped in with both feet. Dr. Reid serves on the Annual Conference Planning Committee, and has been instrumental in designing and shaping the curriculum for the program on July 29, 2021. Many of you may have met Dr. Reid over the summer, as he moderated several of our “community chats.” Others of you may know him through the Mediation Center, where he presents on implicit bias in the mediation, custody evaluation, and PC/PTE trainings. Over the last year, Dr. Reid has been enormously helpful by facilitating conversations about how our organization can be more mindfully inclusive and relevant to members of traditionally marginalized communities.
When he’s not at AFCC committee meetings, Dr. Reid is a therapist and teacher. He is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and the owner of Relationships, LLC, where he provides professional counseling and therapy services for families, couples, as well as supervised visitation. Relationships, LLC, also serves as a training site for mental health practitioners who wish to provide culturally sensitive services to diverse populations in the Twin Cities metro area. Dr. Reid is also an adjunct faculty member at the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Northcentral University. Dr. Reid is surrounded by a diverse community of support, both personally and professionally, including his spouse, 3 children, and four grandchildren. He is also an avid fan of women’s basketball, so when sports events are safe again, keep an eye out for him at Minnesota Lynx games.
