Gail Finley, GAL in southwestern Minnesota – Mankato area, is one of those AFCC MN members who is typically in the background, working hard and diligently with minimal recognition. She has actively participated in the 2014 annual conference committee program planning for the 1/2 day Greater MN Initiative. Gail effectively promotes the organization, events, and membership in her own modest, quiet way.
It was especially entertaining when she was informed of her selection as a Member in the Spotlight: She responded by saying “Gail who?” She’s so accustomed to being in the background, that it never occurred to her that she would be nominated!
Congratulations, Gail. Well deserved. Thank you for your time, energy and hard work!!!
After years working as a nurse, in 1998 Gail was presented with an opportunity to do something different by working as a guardian ad litem. She lives in Mankato and remains employed as a part-time GAL in Blue Earth and Nicollet Counties.
Responding to a need in outstate Minnesota, Gail began doing custody evaluations on a private basis in 2004. With continued education and training, Gail added mediation, parenting consulting and Early Neutral Evaluation to the list of services she provides. Her experience as a GAL has provided her with a broader perspective that she combines with her various trainings in all of the work that she does.
Gail believes that AFCC is a true lifeline with a membership comprised of supportive and knowledgeable professionals and is an organization that provides cutting-edge educational training opportunities. After attending last year’s National Conference in LA, Gail looks forward to attending this year’s conference in Toronto.
When she is not working, Gail enjoys traveling with her husband, Robert, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. She also enjoys knitting, reading, gardening, hiking and bicycling.
